Kuntanawa Medicine Ceremony

Ceremonial Medicines

Throughout the ages, the people of the Amazon forest have embraced the use of plants to connect with different dimensions of reality—a foundational aspect of their medicinal journey. The Kuntanawa tribe, specifically, has drawn upon various herbs to foster healing and elevate human consciousness to its highest potential. Traditionally, the native inhabitants have turned to the abundant natural pharmacy of the jungle to address physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments.

The roots of plant medicine trace back to the very beginning of human existence on Earth. These profound healing practices, surviving challenges like wartime and slavery in the Amazon, have been handed down through generations. During such times, indigenous people safeguarded this sacred knowledge, determined to preserve their ancestral ways.

Today, with government recognition and protection in Acre, Brazil, a safer environment exists for sharing this vast healing knowledge once again. The native people emerge with renewed hope to restore the planet’s harmonious coexistence with nature. Amidst the current state of our world, the enigmatic power of Amazonian plants is awakening from its hidden existence, eager to offer the gift of healing to humanity once more.

Haru Kuntanawa – Hapé
Sananga: Visionary HealingSananga, an indigenous plant found in the Amazon, has played a central role in the healing traditions of the Kuntanawa people since their tribe’s early days. Functioning as herbal eye drops, this valuable natural medicine is primarily aimed at improving both physical and spiritual eyesight, effectively treating conditions like glaucoma, poor vision, and cataracts.

In addition to its physical healing properties, Sananga holds spiritual importance, thought to bring luck and positive experiences into one’s life. Following ancient Kuntanawa customs, Sananga is utilized to remove curses and illnesses encountered along life’s path.

Hapé: A Sacred Remedy of the Kuntanawa The Kuntanawa tribe deeply values Hapé in their healing ceremonies, where it plays a vital role as a powerful protective shield against modern-day pollutants. This sacred practice not only purifies the physical body but also addresses emotional and spiritual aspects, removing afflictions and illnesses.

At the core of every Hapé blend is tobacco, revered as the supreme plant medicine spirit protector in the Amazon. The Kuntanawa tribe enhances their formulations with various medicinal jungle plants, customizing each mixture to target specific health concerns.

Hapé serves as a method to cleanse one’s energy, offering clarity and insights to those who partake. This enigmatic blend functions in diverse ways, providing unique healing effects and experiences tailored to each individual’s needs.

Kambo: Healing with the Amazonian Teacher Frog

The Kuntanawa people harness the secretions of the Kambo frog for their healing intentions, aiming to address present and future ailments. Known as a natural vaccination, Kambo initiates a purgative cleansing experience on the body, mind, and spirit. Regarded as a potent detoxifier, the body emerges stronger and better equipped to combat sickness once the effects wear off.

Kambo also functions as a powerful energetic cleanse, believed to dispel bad luck and curses in accordance with the teachings of the Kuntanawa people. This profound experience often leads individuals to gain a newfound perspective, awakening deeper levels of understanding and being.

Sacred Body Paint: Honoring Ancestral Wisdom

The Kuntanawa people embrace a deeply spiritual tradition of adorning their bodies with sacred geometry symbols passed down from their ancestors. These intricate Jugua paintings are considered highly sacred, providing wearers with protection and a profound connection to their spiritual path. Body painting rituals are observed during ceremonies and festivals, with many Kuntanawans choosing to paint their bodies daily.

Each person’s body paint carries specific blessings and acts as a shield against the intense Amazon sun, irritants, and mosquitoes. The paint Genipapo can detox the body and treat skin problems such as cancer. Every symbol and painting holds a unique meaning, carefully selected based on the energy and intentions of the wearer. This mindful approach ensures that the direction, placement, and choice of symbols resonate harmoniously with the individual.

Haru & Hayra’s Inspiring Journey

Hayra and Haru’s paths converged not by chance but through destiny in the enchanting landscapes of Peru. Living in Boulder, Colorado, Hayra received a message during meditation from the Akashic Records, guiding her to the town of Pisac. There, in a small café, she awaited an encounter with a distinctly indigenous-looking man, foretold to be her future husband – Chief Haru of the Kuntanawa Nation.

Haru, the leader of his tribe, embarked on a transformative journey, seeking healing and self-discovery. His quest led him to Pisac, where fate intertwined their lives. In their initial meeting, a profound soul connection was evident, forging an immediate friendship. Three weeks later, Hayra joined Haru on a journey to the heart of the Amazon in Acre, Brazil, where their bond deepened. Their love, a beacon of authenticity, has not only inspired others but also served as a catalyst for transformation through their music, stories, and healing medicines.

While navigating the intricacies of language and culture, they coined the term “Portuglais” for their unique communication style. At public events, a translator assists in bridging the linguistic gap. Hayra, post their legal marriage, became the first Western woman to marry a revered indigenous leader of the Amazon, receiving her Kuntanawa name. Together, they redefine roles in the Kuntanawa territory, embodying equality, a groundbreaking concept in the Amazonian context. Their union symbolizes the harmonious fusion of different worlds, challenging societal norms and fostering a new era of understanding and partnership.

All donations for the gatherings will cover event expenses, and any extra funds will directly support the Kuntanawa tribe’s efforts to protect the Amazon from deforestation and ensure food security for their tribe and others.

The Kuntanawa tribe of Acre, Brazil and other rainforest communities really need your support. They have faced a lot of challenges throughout history. In 1911, they experienced genocide, and for many years, they were enslaved by the rubber tapping industry. However, in 1988, the Kuntanawa people liberated themselves from slavery. Despite this victory, both the Kuntanawa tribe and their neighboring Black, Indigenous, and White communities have been left in poverty.

The current leaders of the Kuntanawa tribe are Haru Kuntanawa and Hayra Kuntanawa. They are determined to improve the lives of the people living in rainforest communities and protect the lands of the Amazon Rainforest.

Unfortunately, the Brazilian Amazon is in a critical state. Companies are exploiting its resources, such as natural resources, minerals, and gold. They are also clearing large areas of intact forests for cattle farming and mono-culture production. It’s important to understand that by supporting the people in the forest communities, we are helping those who are on the front lines in guardianship to keep the forest intact.
