This November, Pachamama Sanctuary is honored to welcome Keneihu and Shawma Yawanawá of the Yawanawá people of the Brazilian Amazon for a special three-day ceremonial gathering in Orlando.

Raised within families of respected Yawanawá leaders, Keneihu and Shawma carry traditions that have been passed through generations. Their paths have included years of learning within their community, sacred diets under the guidance of their elders, ceremonial work, music, prayer, and the responsibility of representing and preserving their culture.

Together, they bring the complementary feminine and masculine forces of their tradition into ceremony. Their powerful voices, guitar, and saitis—ancient Yawanawá prayers and songs—create an experience rooted not simply in music, but in a living spiritual tradition.

For those who have felt called to experience ceremony held by Indigenous carriers of these traditions, this weekend offers a rare opportunity to gather with Keneihu and Shawma without traveling to the Amazon.

Meet Keneihu & Shawma Yawanawá

Keneihu Yawanawá

Keneihu is the eldest daughter of spiritual leader Matsini Yawanawá, Chief of Mutum Village. Raised within a family deeply connected to Yawanawá spiritual and cultural life, she began studying the traditions of her people from an early age and has completed sacred diets under the guidance of her father.

As the eldest of eight sisters, Keneihu carries a strong sense of responsibility to the women of her family, her community, and the continuation of Yawanawá tradition.

Her remarkable voice and musicianship have also brought her beyond the Amazon. She has participated in international cultural and musical projects, including The Future Is Ancestral with Brazilian artist Alok, and has shared her culture on prominent international stages.

Her presence carries both strength and sensitivity—a reflection of the powerful feminine lineage she represents.

Shawma Yawanawá

Shawma is the son of Chief Nixiwaka Biraci Yawanawá, an important leader of the Yawanawá people and Chief of the Yawanawá Sacred Village on the Gregório River.

Today, Shawma lives in Mutum Village alongside Keneihu, where he supports spiritual work and cultural activities within the community. He has undertaken sacred diets under the guidance of Yawanawá elders and has represented his people through ceremonies and cultural gatherings internationally.

A gifted singer and guitarist, Shawma has also contributed to The Future Is Ancestral. His strong voice and grounded presence carry the masculine force of his tradition alongside a deep responsibility to preserve what has been entrusted to his generation.

As husband and wife, Keneihu and Shawma bring these two forces together in a way that makes their ceremonial work particularly special.

Your Retreat Experience

Two Ceremonial Evenings with Keneihu & Shawma

Friday and Saturday evenings will center around sacred ceremonies held by Keneihu and Shawma.

Their voices, prayers, music, and presence will accompany the ceremonial space, offering guests an opportunity to encounter aspects of Yawanawá spiritual tradition in an intimate setting.

Rather than approaching the weekend with expectations about what you should experience, we encourage you to come prepared to listen, participate respectfully, and allow your own process to unfold.

Music, Prayer & Yawanawá Tradition

Music holds a profound place within Yawanawá spiritual life.

Keneihu and Shawma are both accomplished musicians whose voices carry the saitis, ancestral Yawanawá prayers and songs. Their guitar, voices, and prayers will be woven throughout the weekend, bringing a dimension to this retreat that is distinctly their own.

Preparation & Integration

Between ceremonies, there will be time to rest, reflect, connect with the community, and participate in grounding and integration practices.

The intention is not to fill every moment, but to give you enough space to absorb what arises and approach each ceremony with presence.

Accommodations & Meals

Your retreat includes accommodations for Friday and Saturday evening, along with nourishing meals prepared in alignment with our retreat dieta guidelines.

Each guest will have a dedicated space for ceremony and rest, including a memory foam mattress, pillow, and blanket. Additional accommodation options are available for guests seeking greater privacy.

Support Beyond the Weekend

The ceremony may happen over two nights. Integration can continue much longer.
